The Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Texas (BGCSCT) is seeking enthusiastic, responsible Esports Volunteers to assist our Esports Program Coordinator and Coach. Volunteers will help facilitate practices, tournaments, and gaming activities for Club members, fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and digital citizenship. This is a unique opportunity to support youth development through the growing world of competitive gaming and technology education. Responsibilities: Assist the Esports Coordinator/Coach in setting up and breaking down gaming equipment before and after practices and events. Help supervise gaming activities to ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants. Provide hands-on support during practices by helping members understand game rules, mechanics, and team strategies. Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive communication among Club members. Assist in monitoring equipment use and maintaining the condition of computers, consoles, and accessories. Support the organization and execution of internal scrimmages, tournaments, and club competitions. Help manage player rotations, match scheduling, and basic record-keeping during activities. Serve as a mentor and role model by encouraging healthy gaming habits, respect, and ethical online behavior. Report any issues or concerns regarding members’ behavior, equipment, or game performance to the Esports Coordinator/Coach promptly. Qualifications: Passion for gaming and familiarity with popular esports titles (e.g., Rocket League, Fortnite, Super Smash Bros., Minecraft, NBA 2K, etc.) Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with youth aged 8-16. Positive attitude, patience, and the ability to motivate and encourage young players. Basic understanding of esports culture and digital literacy concepts. Ability to follow and enforce Club policies and program expectations. Previous experience with youth mentorship, coaching, or esports (preferred but not required). Time Commitment: 2-6 hours per week, depending on program schedules and events. Volunteer shifts typically occur in the afternoons and early evenings, Monday-Friday. Location: Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Texas Club Sites (specific sites will vary). Benefits: Gain experience in youth development, coaching, and esports program management.
