Mission Statement
Healthy Neighborhoods Detroit, in partnership with St. John Providence Community Health Investment Corporation, is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health of eastside Detroit residents by linking investment in healthcare, education, training and access to healthy and safe environments in a manner that transforms the economy of Detroit with measurable, sustainable, improvement in health and quality of life of those served.
Description
Healthy Neighborhoods Detroit operates two Neighborhood Health & Safety offices which serve to address the gaps in health and safety on Detroit's eastside. The initiative operates on an evidence based model called the PROM-ED Model. PROM-ED is an acronym for Presence, Reporting, Operating, Mobilizing, and Educating. Using a collaborative approach with other non profit agencies, we provide Presence by employing patrol officers for crime reduction and an office for health/safety related information; Reporting of crime and blight is performing by officers and clean up crew members; Organizing by block club formation; Mobilizing volunteers for all areas - administrative support, clean ups, patrolling, and health fairs; Educating by promoting health literacy to encourage prevention & welness.
We are headquarted in Warren, MI with two offices located on East Outer Drive and East Jefferson Avenue.
