Description

The Cameron Art Museum houses a collection of fine art, design and crafts, including significant holdings of historical and contemporary work by North Carolina artists, designers and artisans.

The museum occupies an approximately 40,000 square foot facility designed by renowned architectural firm of Gwathmey Siegel & Associates Architects Inc. in New York City. The museum building includes two exhibition wings and Galleria object display cases; a full-service restaurant and catering kitchen; museum gift shop; a reception hall and lecture auditorium equipped with A/V projection capability. The museum's Pancoe Art Education Building is a separate, 2,100 square foot facility offering classes, lectures and workshops focused on clay for both adults and children.

The museum is sited on 9 1/2 acres of wooded park land and includes a pond, an Art Education Center (with on-site kiln and clay focus); and a historic civil war site marking the "Battle of Forks Road" fought in February of 1865.

The Cameron Art Museum is the region's only art museum, supported primarily by donations from members, benefactors and visitors.
