Description
Philadelphia Film Society was established in 2001 by TLA Entertainment as a nonprofit, providing film and media arts events and services throughout the Philadelphia area. For more than 20 years, TLA has been committed to supporting independent film within the Philadelphia region. They have taken on many projects, providing services and financial support to local filmmakers. Eleven years ago, TLA created the Philadelphia International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival. Today, it has become one of the largest and most successful festivals of its kind in the nation and the largest in the Northeast. In 2000, TLA managed the Philadelphia Festival of World Cinema for International House (a non-profit organization committed to bringing people together from different cultures to promote tolerance and respect). The festival nearly doubled in attendance and received unprecedented citywide support. In 2006, Philadelphia Film Society will produce two prominent international film festivals and continue to serve the areaĆ¢ s growing interest in film and the media arts.
