Mission Statement

The specific purpose and primary goal of Helping Hands Produce is to move surplus crops from the farm to food distribution centers which desperately need a source of fresh fruits and vegetables; to educate children and adults on the benefits of community service outreach in a farm setting, and organize individuals and groups of volunteers to help with this effort.

Description

Non-Profit, Helping Hands Produce was formed to facilitate harvesting surplus farm crops from Davis Ranch in Sloughhouse, California to be given to area food banks.

Davis Ranch grows more than 20 different kinds of fruits and vegetables including corn, watermelon, peppers, eggplant, cucumbers, cantaloupe, zucchini and winter squash. Much of the surplus fruit and vegetables that could go to people in need are instead tilled back into the soil, because there are not enough people to pick it.
