Mission Statement
CareLink's mission is to assist medically underserved and uninsured children and their parents in overcoming barriers to receiving medical care in the Dupage County, Illinois area.
Description
The work of CareLink is based on findings of a 1999 American Academy of Pediatrics Catch Planning Grant funded study. The study surveyed the health care needs of Western DuPage County uninsured and underserved children, as well as the physicians who serve them. Outcomes of the study documented issues in the availability of transportation to a medical provider, communication (due to language barriers) and the provision of medical specialty services. From these results The CareLink Foundation's staff and volunteer physicians developed a set of medical ancillary programs for low income and very low income pediatric patients and their parents in DuPage County, Illinois.
The services offered by The CareLink Foundation include:
... School and sports physical events
... Health care enrollment program
... A child car passenger safety seat education and distribution program
... A health care interpreter program for parents where English is not their primary language
... A program to link low income and very low income children to pediatric medical specialists.
