The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know about the most effective ways to contribute.
Our mission is "TO PROVIDE STUDENTS A SAFE ENVIRONMENT THAT FOSTERS CREATIVE, EDUCATIONAL, AND CAREER-FOCUSED INITIATIVES THROUGH MUSIC TECHNOLOGY AND MEDIA ARTS."
Each day at Carolina Studios, students learning how to create, arrange and record music through a software program that is also teaching them valuable computer skills.
It is a multi-media experience starting with writing songs and making beats, followed by learning how to record with a microphone, and ultimately making a CD, complete with artwork, and producing videos. Students always have the opportunity to return to add more vocals, add instruments, replace old vocal tracks, or just start fresh with a new song.
We currently have two site, Shaw Center located at 22 Mary St in Charleston SC and our Mobile Studio. Each site has three iMac work stations that each have a version of Logic on them, and a midi controlled keyboard, and all are connected to a sound booth for ambient recordings.
PLEASE NOTE: OUR HOLIDAY SCHEDULE IS CONCURRENT WITH CHARLESTON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT AND CHARLESTON CITY PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT HOLIDAY SCHEDULES. IF SCHOOLS OR THE CITY PARKS ARE CLOSED, THEN OUR PROGRAM WILL NOT OPERATE ON THOSE DAYS.
