Mission Statement


Our mission is to lead in the conservation and wise use of the nation's forests and grasslands.

Description

Backpack in the Weminuche Wilderness for the USFS Columbine Ranger District.

Duties include educating visitors about Leave No Trace camping techniques and wilderness ethics, monitoring social conditions, campsite restoration and light trail maintenance. Work is strenuous and requires 9-day backpacking trips to remote wilderness locations carrying backpacks and tools.

Dates Late May to Labor Day (dates flexible

Qualifications: Must be in very good physical condition for hiking and backpacking. Should be able to talk to visitors and be a team player. 18 years of age or older, valid driver's license. Forest Service provides: Housing, stipend, vehicle for work, some camping equipment and tools, uniform, and training, a wilderness experience.
