A Little Easier Recovery’s mission is to empower breast cancer patients to regain their dignity and control, and lead a better quality of life throughout all phases of their cancer treatment and recovery through established patient centered educational programs. These essential programsaddress crucial unmet needs and teach how to hold onto normalcy, how to navigate through the physical and emotional maze of cancer, to do more, to be empowered, and to find the strength and power to fight an unfair fight.
The educational Jacki Program includes an innovative patient-designed recovery garment with a educational brochure and DVD for the patient/nurse education process discussing how to best use the Jacki for post-treatment self-care, drain management, pain reduction, increased mobility, and independence while restoring dignity and control.
The Organization System (OS) teaches patients how to be a better communicator and self-advocate for their care; it also helps the caregiver deal with a more organized patient and allows their loved ones to all be on the same page. The OS is instrumental in helping patients navigate through the onslaught of medical paperwork. This began as a one-on-one educational program delivered by the oncology staff, and has since evolved into a group meeting forum in which patients and loved ones participate in a educational support group setting. The OS is available in both English and Spanish.

Upon graduating from college, I volunteer at A Little Easier Recovery, and my respect for this amazing team has only grown as I have seen them work tirelessly to get grants so they can provide a free program to advanced breast cancer patients. Everyday they fulfill the mission to empower advanced breast cancer patients to live a better quality life. I have witnessed the constant outpour of thank you letters from patients recorded through A Little Easier Recovery’s letter-writing program; I have firsthand read what a positive difference this program has made in the lives of these women and men enduring this traumatic ordeal of breast cancer.
“The Jacki Program was a life-saver for me post surgery. I had surgery 16 year ago without having the benefit of having access to the Jacki. Having the Jacki this time made recovery so much easier. I would recommend it to anyone having to deal with drains, and post-surgery in the future.” — A.K., 65, West Boylston, MA., Jacki Program Participant
