Mission Statement
Battery Dance Company is dedicated to the pursuit of artistic excellence and the availability of the Arts to everyone. An integral part of the fabric of New York City for 32 years, Battery supports the creative process; educates children in the New York City schools; enriches the general public through local programs and performances, national and international tours, and international arts exchange programs.
Description
Battery Dance Company has been recognized locally and worldwide as downtown's most prominent dance company and presenter of dance. As the founders and sponsors of the annual Downtown Dance Festival, now in its 27th season, Battery Dance Company promotes the performing arts among the city's youth through Dance Education Residencies at Washington Irving High School in Manhattan, Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Queens, and P.S. 257 in Brooklyn, as well as an education partnership with Millennium High School. Battery Dance Company also produces a full calendar of performances, residencies and workshops in the United States, South Asia, Germany and the Far East.
