Scott Valley FOCUS

Description

Scott Valley FOCUS is a grass-roots non-profit organization which seeks to improve the lives of everyone living in Scott Valley and the surrounding areas. After providing a "virtual" family resource center (FRC) for 4 years we were able to establish a physical location in April of 2004. Our staff consists of 1 Americorp volunteer and a Director who work in coordination with a cadre of volunteers from the community. Services and programs offered at the Scott Valley FRC include resource and referral services, Parent Education classes, playgroups, family fun nights, teen music night and concerts, a computer lab with open access, Healthy Families and EDD online application assistance, Early Head Start Program, Mailbox Buddies, monthly newsletter, car seat installation and give away, bike helmet give away, parent kits, dance and Tai-Chi classes, nutrition education and after school enrichment.

One of the long-term goals of Scott Valley FOCUS in establishing the FRC is to provide a continuum of programs and services for community members from birth to 100 years of age.
