Mission Statement

The OMI/Excelsior Beacon Center seeks to entich the lives of people in our community. We do this by creating opportunities for youth, families, and community to grow and share in a safe and diverse place.

Description

We offer programs for youth, families and adults in the areas of arts and recreation, career/vocational development, health/mental health, academic support and leadership development. After school and summer programs are offered at James Denman Middle School. Wellness Services (mentoring, case management and substance use counseling) are offer year round to youth. Through a great desire and a tremedous amount of work from the OMI and Excelsior communitiues, the OMI Excelsior Beacon Center open in April of 1999. Urban Services YMCA is the lead agency for this Beacon housed at James Denman Middle School.
