Mission Statement

The mission of the Fairfield Volunteer Center is to strengthen Fairfield, Iowa, and the neighboring towns of Jefferson County by fostering civic engagement in support of our community members' health and wellbeing and of environmental stewardship.

Description

The Fairfield Volunteer Center (FVC) serves as a catalyst for expanding opportunities for community connectedness through a broad range of programs and activities. FVC also assists area nonprofits to build their capacities to deliver services through training and technical assistance in all areas of volunteer management.

Created in 2006 as a city commission, FVC has grown to an established nonprofit that provides vital services for our community, including supplementing city projects (e.g.: trail and park maintenance); supporting events and organizations that attract tourists (e.g.: 1st Friday's Art Walk; FAIRfest; Fairfield Arts & Convention Center); moving the Go-Green Plan forward with tree planting on public lands and weatherization projects for seniors and veterans; assisting animal shelters; and helping those in need by partnering with the Lord's Cupboard, the only food pantry in Jefferson County.
