Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Our Lady of Clear Creek Abbey is a community of monks striving to live a simple, genuine and full monastic life according to the Scriptures and the Rule of St.Benedict . As member of an autonomous monastery within the Solesmes Congregation, we seek to remain faithful to our authentic tradition continually revitalized by the Holy Spirit.
It is part of the Solesmes tradition to cultivate a solemn, public liturgical Office. The monks of Clear Creek Abbey celebrate God's glory in Latin, so appropriate to give an idea of God's majesty, a sense of the sacred. Thus the monks exploit the riches developed over centuries in the Church's liturgy and cultivate Gregorian chant.
Two other main features of the Solesmes Congregation which the monks of Clear Creek strive to live fully must be noted: deep fidelity to the Holy See and devotion to the Virgin Mary.Fontgombault and Clear Creek Abbey, cultivate the essential of their vocation, that is, the life of contemplative prayer, do not assume pastoral charge of parishes nor run schools. But in the Rule of Saint Benedict, hospitality has an important place, and Benedictine tradition has always considered this to be a part of the monastery's role in the Church. So, besides their deep communion with the life of the Church and their prayer for all, the monks of Clear Creek receive guests for retreats and help the faithful participate in their life of prayer and recollection, especially through the Divine Office.
The Abbey is located on 1200 acres of land. They are completely autonomous as they maintain sheep, chickens, tree orchards and cheese production. They need help maintaining the property since much of their time is used for contemplative prayer. Each year on the first Saturday of March over 300 people volunteer to help with the maintenance of the land. Other volunteer hours can also be done throughout the year.
