Mission Statement

World Computer Exchange (WCE) is an international educational nonprofit focused on helping the world's poorest youth to bridge the disturbing global divides in information, technology and understanding. WCE keeps donated computers out of landfills and gives them new life connecting youth to the Internet in developing countries. WCE leverages the resources of businesses, strategic allies, volunteers, and schools to build the capacity of WCE's partners to prepare local schools, teachers, and students to use the Internet as a bridge to new resources, opportunities, and understanding.

Description

WCE Chicago is a group of volunteers in the Chicago area who help gather, test and pack donated computers to send overseas to schools and community organizations with have approved plans to implement an ICT project. One of the many volunteer roles is that of computer tester. Testing takes at the Shurgard Storage facility at 1711 W Fullerton, Chicago. Testing is scheduled on 1 Saturday/month.
