Our mission is to develop and educate young musicians to excel by providing an opportunity to learn and to express their musical abilities in an atmosphere of professionalism, creativity and enjoyment, thereby fostering a lifelong love of music.

Description

Begun in 1993 as the first youth pops orchestra in the nation, the Pittsburgh Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (PYPO) has proudly welcomed countless young musicians of all backgrounds. Our mssion is to educate, train and develop these students to excel in music as a career or as a lifelong hobby. We believe the lessons and qualities that go into developing musicianship such as self-discipline, empathy, openness and inquisitiveness are critical to success in any pursuit - musical or otherwise - and that music is a powerful catalyst for personal growth.
