Mission Statement

NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI advocates for access to services, treatment, supports and research and is steadfast in its commitment to raise awareness and build a community for hope for all of those in need.

The NAMI San Gabriel Valley Affilliate volunteer leaders work in the community to raise awareness and provide essential and free education, advocacy and support group programs.

Description

NAMI San Gabriel Valley is a nonprofit, self-help advocacy and support group of consumers, families, and friends of people with severe mental illnesses, dedicated to the eradication of those mental illnesses and to the improvement of quality of life of those affected by these diseases. We serve the San Gabriel Valley that covers more than 480,000 citizens in Pasadena, La Canada/Flintridge, South Pasadena, San Marino, Alhambra, Sierra Madre, Arcadia, San Gabriel and Rosemead.

NAMI focuses on serving a most concerned constituency who have loved ones who suffer from severe mental illnesses including the neurobiological disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder (formerly manic depressive disorder), major depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and anxiety disorders.
