The Mission of the Gateway Housing Foundation is to impact lives, positively affect the destinies of low income and underserved individuals and families in crisis, strengthen and empower the people we serve via access to affordable housing partnered with supportive services to adult men and women, children, ex-offenders, seniors, veterans, disabled and homeless, the promotion of revitalization and stabilization within neighborhoods and expansive community outreach along with individual and community asset building. GHF is committed to ending poverty and homelessness inNorthSt. LouisCityand is geared towards empowering individuals to self-sufficiency.
In 2007, Minister Maurice McIntosh incorporated a community based housing development organization in the 3rd Ward of North St. Louis City due to decaying conditions of the neighborhoods and lack of resources available for individuals and families living below the poverty guidelines. He succeeded, and formed Gateway Housing Foundation (GHF), an organization founded on the basis of empowerment and self-sufficiency.
Today, GHF is a recognized nonprofit leader in the community that fosters stability and personal growth for low income and underserved individuals and families by providing affordable, safe and secure housing along with a sense of community and innovative supportive services. Based upon increased needs, GHF’ has expanded to include GED courses, job training and life skills, mentorship and home restoration programs along with homeownership education, counseling and credit improvement programs.
As one of the community workforce development agencies, Gateway Housing Foundation has developed a reputation for creating positive outcomes for "hard to serve populations". These outcomes are the product of a strong grassroots initiative that has engendered trust and compliance among program participants making it feasible for us to design and manage large involved projects that are often neglected.
