Description

Performing arts theater group working with a wide range of youth teaching skills for life by mentoring and educating. From stage building, one on one coaching and community involvement Act 1 strives to be a pathway for youth to find a voice and a passion in the performing arts.

ATP was founded by Chris and Petra Karr in 1995. Together they bring over 50 years of combined regional theatre experience in Washington. While Chris’ background and training are in all aspects of technical design and production, Petra’s experience is in acting, directing, and writing. Petra is also a certified high school drama teacher, and works closely through regional and state adjudication of the thespian society with the high school programs in our state.

Zack Jennison earned his BA at Western Washington University in Theatre and got his MFA at the University of Nebraska in Directing. He recently moved back to Washington and joins the ATP team as an instructor, actor and director.

Abel Kellam, a life long student of European martial arts and stage combat. He is a national sword fighting champion, works as fight choreographer, does animated voice-over work, acts with ATP and can be seen playing "Caboose the Moose" on The Old Cannery Furniture Warehouse commercials ! Students working with Abel will not only develop a physical prowess with arms, but also learn parts of the incredible history of weaponry and cultures and how they have become a part of theatre around the world.

This group has some of the most amazing people I have ever worked with. The kids are so smart and talented. Looking forward to many more days of helping them out!
