Mission Statement

The Basilica of Saint Mary is a community rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ. As the Co-Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, it is our mandate to model, to inspire and to:

  • Provide excellence in liturgy, faith formation, pastoral care, and hospitality
  • Preach justice and provide emergency relief to the poor
  • Pursue interfaith relationships
  • Contribute to the celebration of the sacred arts in this community

The Parish is marked by hospitality and rich diversity.

Description

The spiritual life of the Parish consists of three essential components:

Liturgy
The way in which we express our faith and the way in which we are rehearsed in our faith; the celebration of discipleship and the effective rehearsal in discipleship. Learning
The way in which all of us, young and old, learn about our Catholic faith through the study of Scripture and tradition; the ongoing clarification of the meaning of discipleship. Life
The way in which Christians live out their faith, both within the community and in the broader world, through justice and care for one another; the day-to-day life of disciples of Jesus Christ.
