Mission Statement

On April 30th, 2006 Broward County will take to the streets in responce to the local HIV/AIDS epidemic. The AIDS Walk will become a Ft. LAuderdale tradition a celebration of commitment and determination to build awareness of a crushing epidemic, HIV/AIDS.

AIDS WALK VOLUNTEERS

Thank you for your interest in helping us out with this year's event! Simply stated, the AIDS Walk could not happen without our dedicated volunteers.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Do you prefer to collate mailings or chat with participants on the phone? There is a place for everyone at the AIDS Walk Office. Please see a sample of our volunteer opportunities below.

Before the AIDS Walk we have day and evening volunteer opportunities.

On the day of the AIDS Walk we have the following opportunities.

SIGN IN: (Thursday Orientation): Help greet walkers and process their registration. You must be 16 or older and fluent in english.
Walk Shift: 7:30AM-12:00PM
Mandatory Orientation: Location and time to be determined at a later date.

SIGN IN: (Saturday Orientation): Help greet walkers and process their registration. You must be 16 or older and fluent in english.
Walk Shift: 7:30AM-12:00PM
Mandatory Orientation: Location and time to be determined at a later date.

MONITORS: (Wanna be a cheerleader?) Encourage walkers while maintaining safety along the route. Must be 16 or older.
Walk Shift: 7:30AM-2:00PM
Mandatory Orientation: Location and time to be determined at a later date.

CROWD CONTROL: Direct walkers and guard restricted areas. Must be 15 or older.
Walk Shift: 7:45AM-2:30PM
Mandatory Orientation: Location and time to be determined at a later date.

CHECKPOINTS: (on the route): Serve refreshments to walkers along the route. (Great for families!)
Walk Shift: 8:00AM-2:30PM
Mandatory Orientation: Location and time to be determined at a later date.

CHECKPOINT 4: Serve refreshments to walkers at Huizenga Plaza. (Great for families!)
Walk Shift: 7:15AM-3:00PM
Orientation : NONE

DELINEATORS: Place and remove traffic cones along the route. (some heavy lifting)
Walk Shift: 7:00AM-2:15PM
Orientation : NONE

TEAMS: Help set-up and run the team area. (some light lifting)
Walk Shift: 7:00AM-1:00PM
Mandatory Orientation : Location and time to be determined at a later date.

SECURITY: Security around the stage area. Must be 18 or older.
Walk Shift: 8:00AM-2:30PM
Mandatory Orientation: Location and time to be determined at a later date.

TOTALERS: Help total pledges on a 10 key adding machine.(accountants and cashiers encouraged!)
Walk Shift: 10:00AM-4:00PM
Orientation : NONE

SET-UP CREW: Help set-up the park the morning of the AIDS Walk. Volunteers who sign-up for the Set-Up crew can also walk!
Walk Shift: 5:15AM-8:30AM
Orientation: None
