Veterans and active duty military members are needed to serve as volunteers with our hospice patients who are veterans. Compassus Hospice is a partner in the We Honor Veterans program of the National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO). Veterans and active duty volunteers have a unique perspective gained from their military experience, and as such, they are able to provide understanding and comradery to our veteran patients. Military volunteers can also be utilized on an "as needed" basis to assist with a variety of veteran specific activities. Veteran specific activities include (but not limited to) Presenting a certificate and pin to the veteran Assisting veteran in reminiscing / telling life stories Participating in community education activities regarding veteran topics Providing companionship to a veteran patient Active duty members and veterans can bring the missing piece of forgotten comradery back into the patient's life.

As part of the Compassus Hospice team, volunteers help to provide the enriching benefits of creativity to hospice patients and their families. Sing, play music, or help create a Legacy Journal while visiting with our patients - you can make a difference!

A few hours of your time can make a difference to a lonely patient! Compassus Hospice, is looking for volunteers to provide in-home or facility visits to hospice patients. Your caring presence allows family members the chance to run errands or keep appointments, or lonely patients to have visits from a new friend. Our program provides training to volunteers and offers ongoing education, recognition and support. Hours are flexible!
