Our mission is to enhance the lives of all people in Tompkins County by connecting them to the world's wisdom, knowledge and culture through free and open access to information and creative expression in many formats.

The primary goals of Tompkins County Public Library's volunteer program are to:

* Allow citizens the opportunity to be more involved with the library

* Provide the community with first-hand knowledge of the library

* Maximize citizen volunteerism

* Complement and support staff

Description

The Tompkins County Public Library provides extensive reference and information services including books for beginning adult readers, law books, consumer information and medical directories. We provide more than 240,000 items within our handsome building, and open the doors to the rest of the world via free Internet access and interlibrary loans. We serve children, teens, adults, seniors, and those with special needs of all kinds. Our services reach beyond our own walls into community libraries and online services accessed from anywhere in the world.
