Mission Statement

Perkins Center for the Arts is dedicated to excellence in the arts and to providing a wide range of creative opportunities for people of all ages and of every level of artistic development. Central to our mission is the belief that artists and the language of the arts is ideal for perceiving and interpreting the complex modern world in which we live.

Description

Perkins Center is unique in its ability to provide high quality artistic programming in a grassroots community setting. The Centerâ  s programs include: Studio Classes in the visual and performing arts for all ages; a Conservatory with individual and group music lessons; an Exhibition Series which promotes and supports emerging and established artists from the region; an ARTS (Art Reaching The Students) Program which matches professional artists with schools for extended residencies in their respective disciplines; a Community Collaborations Program featuring a summer arts program, an after school & summer arts workshop series, and a mural/community gardens initiative in Camden City; and a Performance Series including the classic Chamber Concerts and the folk/contemporary DeCafe Concerts.

From its early roots in Moorestown, Perkins (incorporated 1977) has become a regional arts center serving a constituency in southern New Jersey and beyond. Perkins has operated for 29 years in a 1910 historic Tudor home and carriage building in Moorestown (Burlington County) and in 2002 we expanded to a facility in Collingswood (Camden County). This second facility enables us to reach new audiences, expand our programs and support a multi-year arts initiative in the city of Camden (Collingswood is adjacent to Camden).
