Mission Statement

The mission of The Writer's Garret is to foster the education and development of readers, writers, and audiences by putting them in touch with quality literature, each other, and the communities in which they live and write.

Description

The Writer's Garret offers an educational program called WITS or Writers in the Schools which brings knowledgeable writers and readers of literature into schools to share their passion for reading and writing. The only limitation is just how high student imaginations can soar. Our readers and writers make these possibilites endless!

The Writers Stuio is both an event and an educational experiece made possible by The Writer's Garret and other community partners. Guest authors are featured and the audience is invited inside these personal talks on the life and art of being a writer. Episodes are taped for radio broadcast on KERA and NPR affiliates.

CAMP-Community and Mentorship Program offers those who have a desire to write and those that are excellent writers a community to learn and exchange ideas. Classes are given to better writing skills as well as community envolvement.
