Mission Statement

The Susquehanna Greenway Partnership is a leading champion for the Susquehanna River Watershed, Pennsylvania's most important natural asset and the largest tributary to the Chesapeake Bay. We work to advance public and private efforts to connect people with our natural and cultural resources, and promote a sustainable and healthy environment.

Description

We are working to create over 500 miles of connected parks, trails, conserved areas, and River Town communities along the Susquehanna River -- Pennsylvania's LARGEST Greenway!

The Susquehanna Greenway is a planned corridor composed of: conservation areas, trails, parks, river access points, riparian buffers, and pathways linking the Susquehanna River and its West Branch with cities, towns, rural areas, conserved natural lands and forests in Pennsylvania.

It will be nearly 500 miles in length, making it Pennsylvania’s largest greenway. It will provide a green corridor along Pennsylvania’s longest river that contributes nearly half of the fresh water entering the Chesapeake Bay.

The Susquehanna Greenway is a holistic approach to conserving, restoring and interpreting the natural and cultural heritage of the Susquehanna Valley. It is about engaging and connecting people and communities with each other and their natural environment, providing new opportunities for recreation and alternatives to automotive travel, linking residential areas with schools, libraries, and downtowns.

It is about revitalizing river communities that have lost their industrial base, and ultimately it is about creating healthy, sustainable Susquehanna communities.
