Mission Statement

Kids Corporation was founded 39 years ago to address the critical need for educational opportunity for children in Newark, NJ. Our mission is to create stimulating educational programs and thorough healthcare access for Newark's kids.

Description

We operate after-school and summer academic programs in every ward of the City of Newark. We provide books, healthcare, school supplies, and field trips to thousands of children. Our programs are cost-effective and achieve tangible academic results.

Kids Corporation provides extra hours of academic instruction in an interactive and exciting environment. Through our network of donated resources, we remove barriers to learning, such as lack of supplies, poor health, and safety concerns.

Kids Corporation is an organization all about kids run in a corporate format. We bring the accountability standards of the business world to the non-profit venture of educating New Jersey?s neediest kids.

We occupy donated office space, work within existing schools, and lease our camp for $1 a year. Eighty-nine percent of every dollar raised goes directly into program services for children. We receive no government money and are completely funded by corporate, foundation and individual grants.

Great atmosphere to work in! Everyone is friendly-- they take their work seriously but have a good, relaxed attitude, and really look out for each other. It's not an overwhelming environment, but there's always something that needs to be done. Also a great cause and it feels good to be helping out such an admirable organization. Only issue was that there were a few times I had finished a task but couldn't start something immediately because my supervisors were on the phone, or my job depended on somebody else finishing something first,etc. Just a few times that I felt a bit too idle. But overall a very good experience!

Kids Corporation is an excellent organization, which really helps the children in Newark. Every one who works at Kids Corp is super friendly and helpful. Kids Corp gives you tasks that you can meet, not unrealistic ones. It was a great opportunity volunteering for Kids Corporation

The staff working with Kids Corporation is very professional and want to help new commers by giving them all the tools to perform best in their job.

I would recommend this organization to a friend or colleague because the staff members are very patient and informative in what they do and what they expect from others. Also, you can see that they are very passionate about the future of young children in Newark.

This organiztion was awesome! I'm a student and needed hours, quick. The people here were so nice and appreciative to have me around helping them in the office. I would definitely recommend and possibly go back again. Thanks for having me!
