Mission Statement

Mission Statement:

Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park & Museum is a 265 acre, outdoor museum focusing on monumental pieces of sculpture in an environment of lakes, meadows, forests, and gardens. Educational and recreational programs in art, horticulture, geology, and the environment make Pyramid Hill a busy and vital learning center.

Vision:

As a continuing, public, nonprofit corporation governed by an independent board of directors, Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park & Museum is the only Sculpture Park in the world actively establishing a collection that will present a complete history of sculpture as a component of its educational commitment. We seek to become internationally renowned for our collections, facilities, and programs. Maintaining a primary focus on displaying monumental sculpture works, in a magnificent outdoor environment, the park shall also provide opportunities to educate and foster artistic endeavors, understanding, and appreciation.

History:

In 1984, Hamilton businessman Harry T. Wilks acquired the core, 40-acre property of what has become Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park and Museum. After clearing the land, building roads, installing ponds, constructing an extraordinary 7,000 square foot underground home, he was approached by local businessmen to sell lots for homes. To save the beauty of what he had created, he decided to create a public sculpture park to save this environment. In May of 1995, he donated 265 acres sprinkled with sculpture, and Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park and Museum was incorporated as a non-profit organization so that the grounds and facilities would be preserved as a valuable cultural and environmental resource for future generations in southwest Ohio.

Description

"The 265 acres here, in the midst of rolling hills, are surely the most beautiful natural setting of any art park in the country" - Atlantic Monthly

Located in Southwestern Ohio, overlooking the Great Miami River, Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park & Museum is a 265 acre sculpture park and outdoor museum combining the lure of nature with the dynamic presence of monumental art. It is a setting where landscape and art come together in natural galleries among vast meadows and woodlands.

It has been said that a fine piece of art never truly reaches completion, and the same holds true for a world-class park. Pyramid Hill will always be evolving to become better than it is today...

Pyramid Hill is an outdoor museum focusing on monumental pieces of sculpture in an environment of meadows, forests, and various gardens.
