Mission Statement

Project Linus is a 100% volunteer non-profit organization with a two-fold mission:

  • To provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized or otherwise in need through the gift of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer "blanketeers."
  • To provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities for the benefit of children

Description

Project Linus is comprised of a group of caring individuals who are making dark days brighter for children in difficult situations.

Named after the blanket-toting character in Charles Schultz's Peanuts comic strip, the mission of Project Linus is to provide love, a sense of security, and comfort to children who are seriously ill or traumatized with the gift of a new, handmade blanket or afghan.

The Hudson/Bergen Chapter of Project Linus consists of a dedicated group of blanketeers who knit, crochet and quilt blankets and afghans which are donated to children in distress in our area. We currently supply blankets to children at Jersey City Medical Center Children's Hospital, Hackensack University Medical Center, Valley Hospital-Ridgewood, St. Joseph's Children's Hospital, Englewood Hospital, Women Rising in Jersey City, Shelter our Sisters in Bergen County, and Children's Services of Bergen County.
