Stride provides families with services and a personalized plan to attain economic independence and break the cycle of poverty.
Family Self Sufficiency
The oldest and most basic of Stride's programs, this program serves 225 low-income families each year in Jefferson, Arapahoe, and Adams Counties. Approximately 70% of Stride clients are successful.
Stride serves approximately 25 Jefferson County and 50 Aurora families referred from homeless shelters each year. Families receive affordable housing for two years, plus all of the services available in the family self-sufficiency program .
Successful Stride families can receive help in purchasing their first home. This help may include home ownership counseling, down-payment assistance, and on-going home owner support. As of December 2005, thirty former clients have become home owners through this program.
Children's Education Fund
This fund helps Stride parents pay for enrichment programs their school-aged children either need or desire.
