Mission Statement

CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange) is a non-profit, Non-govermental organization founded in 1947. CIEE's mission is to help people gain understanding, acquire knowledge and develop skills for living in a globally interdependent and culturally diverse world. We are accomplishing our mission through diverse programs including High School programs that enable qualified international high school students to attend high school in the US while living with a host family. Host families across the US invite students into their homes as a member of their family to particpate in all aspects of family and community life.

Description

Become a Host Family by welcoming a foreign student into your home. Open your hearts to a special young person and allow them to experience the American way of life inside a warm and loving family environment.

CIEE Local Coordinators across the US believe that international exchange is a life changing experience for young people and a wonderful way to introduce their communities to the world. Local Coordinators recruit host families in their communities and then assist in matching students with those families. They develop relationships with the host families, students and schools to ensure a wonderful experience. Stipends and national and international travel awarded to local coordinators.

I have had the opportunity to host as well as oversee several kids from all over the world with different cultures, religions and beliefs. I have found all the kids share the same interests, love of music, texting, facebook etc. It is a wonderful adventure hosting as you are learning from each other and becoming friends and family
