Mission Statement

The Clarina Howard Nichols Center is a non-profit agency working to end domestic and sexual violence in Lamoille County. The Cneter provides shelter, support, and direct services to victims and survivors as well as preventive outreach education programs. we work to affect social shange within our communities through increased public awareness.

Description

The CHNC is an organization created to assist and protect women and their children escaping from violent homes. The Center provides a domestic crisis hotline and a rape crisis hotline, advocacy, shelter, and a children's program. Also, support groups for battered women and sexual assult victims in Lamoile County and surrounding areas. We offer outreach in the form of public presentations and training's. We offer women the safety and the time to explore options and make decisions for themselves. Volunteers have an important role in providing comprehensive services to battered women and their children. Abuse may occur at any time of the day or night, a someone must always be there to help. In addition, the women and children who pass through the shelter need a lot more from us, much more than limited staff can possiably provide.
