This program is voluntary.

Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities International was also started as a voluntary non-profit and non political research and educational organization devoted entirely to research and action in Peace, Human rights, disenfranchizing Nigerians and Africans with Disabilities to vote, advocating for real democratic reforms in and other related issues, in Nigerian and other African Nations.

ERPD, Inc was therefore created to contribute with emphasis on the African perspective to the increasing body of knowledge that already existed in the field of Peace Research all over the World.

The Institute was born out of the global concern, shared by its founders, over the deteriorating rates of very corrupt democratic governments disenfreanchising people with disabilities to vote and providing them with equal constitutional rights protection and safegaruds, hunger, Aids, Malaria, total eradication of Polio virus infection and creation of the awareness of it's mysterious and most often a legacy of a debilitating late effects, called Post-polio Syndrome, mental health disorders, and the menacing threat posed to humankind?s continued existence by terrorism, nuclear and chemical weapons, and the increasing militarization of the globe and outer space. For the Third World Countries this threat constitutes a double tragedy; the tragedy of the arms race depriving them of vital development funds and the tragedy of possible nuclear extermination. Emphasis on the Third World factor in peace research is proper in the present World context on account of the fact that a greater proportion of the research going on so far is centered mostly on the developed countries, while Third World countries are now part of the nuclear and chemical weapons producers.
