Mission Statement

To provide an emergency response to the nutritional needs of individuals and families in crisis hunger situations throughout Seattle and King County. We are dedicated to alleviating hunger while providing individuals with resource referrals to help move them towards independence. Our goal is to provide a proactive, nontraditional approach to food assistance that will eventually lead to self-reliance for iondividuals in need of services.

Description

A nontraditional food distribution program that emphasizes healthy and nutritionally balanced bags of food. As you emphasize healthy and nutritional food there is recognition that people have very different dietary needs and inthat context we have design 14 different food bags with particular attention to the number of persons in each home receiving food to address different dietary needs (regular diets-small medium and large ; infant meals --infants 0 -5 months awekk's supply of formula, 6 -12 month a week's supply of starter foods; low soium; diabetic; specially designed liquid bag; snack pack is/was designed by and for homeless teens; culturally sensitive bags--Asian, Latino, Vegetarian. These bags are distributed at almost eighty sites throuhgout the County--mostly in churches and social and human service provider agencies.
