Description
We provide literary instruction for Hudson County residents aged eighteen and older. We offer tutoring in Basic Literacy (BL), English as a Second Language (ESL), Citizenship Preparation,* and Math. Computer assisted phonics instruction is available for BL and ESL students at the Main Library and a few branches.
We offer workshops to train volunteers to tutor adults in Basic Literacy and/or ESL. We also train volunteers to work as administrative assistants and to work with students in the Computer Lab. Our tutors’ educational backgrounds range from high school diplomas to advanced university degrees. They meet with their student for at least two hours each week and determine the location and time of their meeting, whether mornings, evenings, or Saturdays.
