Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide educational assistance to meet the diverse cultural, emotional, social, and health needs of our youth in the Los Angeles foster care system. There are over one half million children living in foster care throughout the United States many of whom have no educational foundation. Without this foundation many of our youth end up right back in the situation that they were removed from or live their lives in and out of jail.

GREATER HOPE SOCIETY FOSTER FAMILY AGENCY,INC. is a nonprofit organization in the South Bay dedicated to treating the mental health of at risk children in the foster care system who reside in our community. The Ford Learning Academy is an outreach program designed to help the at risk youth develop learning skills, build self-esteem, and improve their confidence.

We want to help change the lives of many of the youth whose grades are suffering which brings about negative attitudes and behavior.

We are in desparate need of mindful individuals who care enough to help with this important endeavor. Please Help!

We are looking for a commitment of at least two hours per week to help one child or more if at all possible. Voluteers provide one to one tutoring at the site, foster family home, or a local library. The volunteers can help the child learn how to read, write, and develop mathematical skills. Tell us how you can help and we will welcome you with open arms.
