About Eagle Ridge Institute
The mission of Eagle Ridge Institute (ERI) is to promote healthy lifestyles for family preservation, youth development, and community progress. By approaching the issues of individuals, organizations, and communities at the relationship building and strengthening level, ERI has successfully changed the lives of thousands of Oklahomans.
Today ERI operates over 16 major programs and services in diverse areas affecting low-income, culturally diverse youths, families, women and communities. ERI is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization and is CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) certified. While substance abuse remains a core issue, the agency has grown to address additional community needs, including behavioral, emotional, social, and mental health services. ERI strongly believes in holistic and integrated approach to service provision with special emphasis on positive relationship enhancement. As a result, the agency has expanded to provide substance abuse prevention services to a variety of target populations, including high-risk youth attending Oklahoma City Public Schools (serving over 40,000 students annually), Crooked Oak Schools (an independent, multicultural school district which serves less than 1,000 student annually), and SeeWorth Academy (an alternative school serving over 400 students who have been referred by the juvenile justice system, by home schools, who are under suspension, or are returning dropouts). The agency also provides some prevention and early intervention services to welfare-to-work clients/recipients of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). To fulfill its mission of providing a "continuum of care," ERI continues to build its capacity to a wider range of youth and young adults, particularly those in communities of color and with low income and few resources.
ERI has extensive capability and experience in providing programs to a variety of target populations across the state. Some of ERI's most successful relationship modeling programs include:
- Area Prevention Resource Center (APRC)
- Eagle's Wings Mentoring Program
- Family Treatment Center
- Therapeutic Foster Care
- Parents Information Resource Center
Eagle Ridge Institute has also been instrumental in building and maintaining community coalitions throughout the Oklahoma City Area. Most recently, the Area Prevention Resource Center was awarded a Project Greenhouse Training Grant from Communities that Care to build capacity expansion of the Northeast Oklahoma City Community Coalition. ERI aims to unlock the hidden strengths and potential that exist within every neighborhood, organization, and individual. Our hands-on approach enables people to mobilize - designing and then implementing a comprehensive, local strategy for building strong, positive relationships between children and the individuals and institutions that are most likely to influence their development. These same techniques are just as effective in building positive long-term relationships with clients and preparing individuals to face any challenge.
