To help individuals and families to a brighter future through mental health counseling, suicide prevention, and community outreach.
In 2014, Provident served more than 40,000 clients.
One in four people will be diagnosed with a mental illness this year. Provident has six counseling locations where therapists work with clients of all ages and backgrounds. For those clients that lack insurance, Provident provides a sliding scale fees based on the client’s ability to pay.
One person dies by suicide every 13 minutes. Provident’s crisis hotline receives an average of 80 calls per day and about 10 of those calls are from people experiencing thoughts of suicide. Provident’s Survivors of Suicide, a free support group for those who’ve lost someone to suicide, is the only one of its kind in the St. Louis area.
Juvenile violence peaks between the hours of 3 and 6pm. Provident’s nine after school sites in the City and County serve 600 low-income children each year.
