Mission Statement

12 Miles West Theater is a professional Equity theater dedicated to presenting high quality productions for the enrichment of the local and regional community. From its inception, 12 Miles West Theatre's main focus has been developing and producing original and lesser known plays by both emerging and established playwrights, as well as innovative interpretations of classic plays. In addition, the company has an ongoing commitment to supporting the work of New Jersey theatre artists providing them with a home where they can grow artistically by creating, developing and performing exciting dramatic works. The company is committed to promoting the arts to all ages and underserved audiences through arts education, community outreach and family theater programs.

Description

Founded in 1992, 12 Miles West has established a reputation for producing vibrant, cutting-edge theater with a focus on original and lesser known plays. We have presented seven world premieres, as well as dozens of tri-state and New Jersey premieres. Our season of programming includes three to four full length plays on our main-stage, a monthly reading series, family theater and arts education programs. Our Guest Artist Series features the work of a variety of other artists in theater, music, dance and performance art. The Troupe of Vagabonds Children's Theatre and Pushcart Players offer several productions for families and children throughout the year. Our eduation wing, The New Jersey School of Dramatic Arts offers a full schedule of theater classes for children, teens and adults.
