ROAD TO RECOVERY UNIT COORDINATOR
JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Road to Recovery Unit Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Road to Recovery Unit Coordinator receives Road requests from the Patient Services Center and coordinates services with Road volunteer drivers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
q Ability to respond to requests for transportation within a specific time frame.
q Commitment to plan and implement a year-round recruitment strategy.
q Ability to keep accurate and organized records.
q Sensitivity to the needs of cancer patient and tact in conversation and attitude.
q Respectful of the patient’s right to confidentiality.
q Willingness to attend Unit Cancer Control Committee meetings and any other meetings necessary.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
q Conducts program needs assessment.
q Assesses available transportation alternatives and provides feedback to Patient Services Center (PSC).
q Recruits transportation volunteers (with assistance of Patient Service Manager).
q Receives requests for transportation and assigns drivers to fulfill those requests. Provides status to PSC concerning filled and unfulfilled transportation requests. (Preferably by 3:00 p.m. (EST) the Friday before the week being scheduled).
q Records all transportation services provided.
q Maintains accurate records of volunteer drivers.
q Assists in organizing awards functions for volunteers.
q Reports problems to the Road Volunteer Mentor and Patient Services Manager.
q Reports to Unit Cancer Control Committee.
TIME COMMITMENT:
q Approximate time required to fulfill duties: one (1) to six (6) hours per week (will vary by number of patients requesting transportation)
