Mission Statement
The Mission of the Maine Conservation Corps (MCC) is to accomplish conservation initiatives that inspire people and enhance communities.
Description
The MCC was created in 1983 and is dedicated to accomplishing natural resource projects, providing jobs, training, and conservation education, as well as promoting volunteer opportunities. MCC places AmeriCorps members throughout Maine to serve on environmental and conservation projects. Positions range from 5 to 10 month commitments. Some members serve individually at agencies and nonprofit organizations to address resource issues and educate Maine citizens. Other members serve on teams to create and improve outdoor recreation opportunities and restore native habitat.
