We are an educational and charitable interfaith organization of Russian-speaking immigrants and their friends and allies. We aim to develop the organizing power of our community, its successful integration in American civil society, advance immigrant rights, civic participation, and leadership development. We raise public awareness of our community and the achievements of its members and promote collaboration with other communities in the pursuit of a more just and fair society with equal opportunities for all.
RCCMB was incorporated in 2011 and has a 501(c)(3) status. It aims to organize and represent immigrants from Russia and other countries of the former Soviet Union in Manhattan and the Bronx where they have historically not been served by authentic community-based organizations. It represents the progressive part of the Russian-speaking community. RCCMB is a member organization of The New York Immigration Coalition and of Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of New York. We initiated and held two major events (in 2011 and 2012) commemorating the historic March to Washington for the freedom of Soviet Jewry which was a focal point in the struggle for the freedom of migration worldwide; a joint forum on housing and security with a Hispanic organization, Centro Altagracia da Fe y Justicia; and a series of community events at the YM & YWHA of Washington Heights, under the title 'A Cup of Community Building’. RCCMB also took part with the NYIC in the annual immigrant action days in Albany and in the lobbying and rally for comprehensive immigration reform in Washington, DC on 04/10/2013.
