Mission Statement

The mission of the Cornucopia Volunteer Farm is to privide sustainable fresh vegetables, fruit and quality protein products to the food-insecure clients of our service region so they have the same nutritional choices as any citizen shopping at a full-service grocery store - all by utilizing volunteers to plant, maintain and harvest our crops.

Description

We are one of the few non-profit organizations that strive to see our client base shrink. Unfortunately, the client base is growing more than it ever has and there doesn’t seem to be an end to this explosion.

Food insecurity and the resultant health ramifications affect everyone. Nutritionally-deprived children and adolescents show a higher rate of learning disabilities, truancy and behavioral problems. The resultant educational problems extends the cycle of poverty into adulthood.

It is our hope that by improving the nutritional quality of the dietary options of our service area clients, we can break this cycle.
