Mission Statement

The El Faro Academic Program cultivates the innate curiosity and creativity of each child while providing a comprehensive, bilingual and multicultural education in a safe and motivating environment. We aim to develop skills and talents while fostering a sense of environmental and social responsibility, preparing individuals to participate as proactive, productive and ethical members of their local and global communities.

Description

Friends of Cabrera, Inc and Faro de Cabrera, SRL work together to provide a community service as facilitators of the El Faro Project which is a homeschooling curriculum and special programs for children of Cabrera, Dominican Republic. We believe that by providing a healthy, respectful and safe environment with a solid academic program and access to special programs that we are assisting to provide better opportunities and the chance of a better future for the children of our area. Faro's slogan - Guiando y Empoderando - Guiding and Empowering.

Project based learning is a collaborative education style facilitated by teachers, aimed at increasing student's retention of content in a way that is directly engaging, through projects applicable to life outside of the classroom. Faro's next step is to achieve Project based learning in its weekly lesson plan. In order to achieve this, we need strong individuals who are dedicated to education.
