Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
The Women?s Rape Crisis Center is dedicated to ending all sexual violence. We are committed to serving the Chittenden County community through the continued provision of our services and to being a leading voice in the State of Vermont for meaningful change in law and society. We provide crisis counseling and advocacy for those whose lives have been affected by sexual violence. Our education and outreach work strives to change attitudes and beliefs that perpetuate and condone the cycle of violence.
We constantly seek to expand our efforts to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse community and welcome all to our agency. Support for our mission is actively sought through fundraising, development and the dedicated efforts of our volunteers.
The Women's Rape Crisis Center provides services for survivors of sexual violence and their loved ones. We also provide education to schools, colleges, professionals, and community groups. We offer complete confidentiality and as much or as little assistance as you choose.
Trained staff and volunteers answer our HOTLINE 24-hours a day. We provide support, information, and referrals for recent and past survivors of sexual violence, their families and friends. Male advocates are available on the hotline Wednesdays from 5pm -- 9pm. You can also make an appointment to meet with staff in our office.
Through our ADVOCACY program, we assist survivors in reporting to police, accompany survivors to the hospital and through the legal process, and help survivors access other community resources.
Our EDUCATION program offers violence awareness and prevention workshops. Last year we presented over 130 workshops to Chittenden County.
Through PUBLIC AWARENESS campaigns like Sexual Violence Awareness Month and the Clothesline Project, we seek to break the silence about sexual violence.
