Mission Statement

Well House provides safe, affordable housing for people who have been homeless. Our model is Low-Demand and we promote Harm Reduction. That is, we meet people where they are at and focus on their strengths and abilities to improve their own lives. We provide opportunities for folks to work on our Urban Farm or in our Pottery Studio to earn income and gain skills needed for mainstream employment. Our residents can stay one month or many years depending on their individual situation and needs.

Description

Well House has offered temporary emergency shelter to women and families since 1978 and is now permanent community living. Its namesake in 10th century Scotland was run by a religious order providing "protection and refuge" for pilgrims to the holy lands. Still today, our resident's stay is a time to rest and to set directions. Over 5,000 people have been assisted over the last 34 years.
