National Liberty Ship Memorial, Inc.

Mission Statement

The mission of the National Liberty Ship Memorial, Inc. is to maintain and operate the Liberty ship SS Jeremiah O'Brien as a living museum.

The goal is to preserve the story of the 6,000 American built WWII troop transport, dry crago and tanker ships including 2710 Liberty ships;

and through its education prgram, to inform present and future generations of the contribution made to the world by these ships, the heroic men and women who built them, the officers and seamen of the U.S. Merchant Marine who sailed and fought them, together with the officers and sailors of the U.S. Navy Armed Guard who embarked on them.
