Mission Statement

Having spent more than 5 years in New York City, Tamika has become a successful entrepreneur and a role model for our community. She sees the struggles hard-working individuals face every day and knows that together we can make our neighborhoods and communities safer and stronger. Tamika will bring a new voice to New York's District 8 (Harlem and South Bronx) as councilwoman, she will be working with you - for a change! Ms. Humphreys' is dedicated to improving our schools and parks while building stronger communities through investments to small businesses and ensuring the highest of standards for quality of life throughout New York City.

Description

Our schools are failing our children because we are not investing in our teachers. Tamika wants to work with the Department of Education to make sure teachers have the resources they need to teach each child. No child should be denied the opportunity to learn, dream or succeed academically. Tamika will help ensure that parents of special needs children get open and direct access to the resources children need in order to thrive in a meaningful educational environment. Academics and education extends to after-school hours as well. Our children need quality after-school programs that provide safety, a place where they can get help with their homework, a healthy snack, and supervised free time. I will support the development of programs that provide our youth with the resources to thrive intellectually and culturally.
