Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Our mission is to assist low-income adults in realizing their full potential through literacy, employment, advocacy and community involvement.
In carrying out this mission we embrace these values: advocacy, collaboration, community, family, empowerment, compassion, diversity, hospitality, life-long learning, respect and responsibility.
Dorcas International Institute is a full-service Adult and Family Learning Center. We offer a wide variety of learning experiences including ESOL, Adult Basic Education, Citizenship, Refugee and Resettlement, Immigration Services, GED Training, and Family Literacy Programs.
In addition to these offerings, we run a Gateway to College Program through CCRI for students entering college for the first time and a Career Academy and Job Center that provides students with real-life job training and opportunities for employment.
Finally, our campus building on Elmwood Avenue houses the state Clothing Collaborative, providing work-appropriate clothing to people entering or renentering the workforce and a Learning Resource Center/Worklab that provides computer access and tutoring for eligible adults.
