Mission Statement

The Mission of The Cape Cod Theatre Project is to contribute to the vitality of American Theater by developing new American plays, bringing audiences into the development process, and administering an intern program to encourage a new generation of theater devotees.

Description

The Cape Cod Theatre Project began as an experiment between two actors in 1995. Andrew Polk and Jim Bracchitta sensed that Cape Cod provided the perfect sanctuary for developing new work, combing an idyllic and comforting atmosphere with a community that enjoys and engages with the arts.

18 years later, CCTP is proud to continue supporting the most exciting voices in American theater in one of the most beautiful locations in the country. Each summer during the month of July, four playwrights are invited to develop a piece, utilizing a full week of rehearsal with a director and actors that culminates in a series of readings and talkbacks.

Plays fostered with CCTP have gone on to achieve great success: 38 of the 59 plays developed have been produced on Broadway, Off-Broadway and at regional theaters around the world, most recently exemplified by Mike Daisey’s celebrated run of The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobsat The Public Theater. Other venues include The Manhattan Theater Club, Playwrights Horizons, The Roundabout Theater, the Daryl Roth Theater, The Rattlestick Theater, Berkeley Repertory Theater, the La Jolla Playhouse, the Repertory Theater of St. Louis, Dallas Theater Center and the Magic Theater.

Each year, the Cape Cod Theatre Project is excited to continue its great tradition of developing some of the best theater in beautiful Falmouth, Massachusetts. We invite you join us on the Cape for another exciting season of programming.
